Time?!
I finally finished out the school year and decided it was time to focus on my book. Then... life got in the way. We went to Bible camp, then for 2 weeks I helped my parents move after my Dad retired. They were moving from the house I grew up in, so they had a lot of stuff. They were moving to a second house they had owned for about 10 years. Two houses means a lot of stuff, some of which ended up at my house. The task of decluttering my house began and continues today. On top of that my Dad has cancer again, this time terminal although we hear there are some great treatment possibilities coming soon. My husband was also gone for a week. It was during this time that the kitchen faucet decided to break off and send water shooting into the air. Many hours and visits to youtube plumbing sites and I had replaced the faucet. So a month and a half flew by without me noticing and I headed back into prepare my classroom without sitting down to work on my book. I decided it was time to ignore the rest of the chaos in my life and glue my seat to a chair. I went back to my story of Savannah Simple. I spent some more time researching online also and found an author who critiques books. I emailed Rob Sanders. I literally closed my eyes and hit send. He agreed to critique my story, so I frantically worked on it again that evening and sent it off. I haven't heard back yet. Maybe he was so disgusted at the first look that he can't read any more. : ) I am worried it is too "preachy" in an educational way. I guess we will see. I also joined SCBWI. Maybe my interactions with Rob Sanders and connection to SCBWI will keep me focused and motivated. Here's to no time and lots of chaos.
